Visit to Colombia of Hon Kojo Yankah

SSCC is delighted to receive from 18 to 24th May its distinguished Board member Hon Kojo Yankah. Mr. Yankah is a former Minister of State, member of Parliament, founder of.  L….College and also the founder and Chairman of the Pan African Heritage Museum which, when inaugurated, will become the biggest cultural institution in Africa.

 

During his visit, the following events have been organized:

 

  1. On 18th May, the docufiction Ulysses from Ghana will be shown in renown theatre Adolfo Mejia at the invitation of the Director of Institute for Culture ad Heritage, Mr. Oscar Uriza, and the international division of the City of Cartagena. followed by an academic panel.
  2. O 19th May, Mr. Yankah will visit Palenque, the oldest independent republic in the Americas where slaves from Cartagena escaped during the colonial period, forging a special language and distinctive culture. Palenque features a festival of film with afro-descendent topics and also an international drum festival.
  3. On 22nd May, Mr. Yankah, accompanied by Mrs. Claudia Turbay and SSCC Chairman, will have a meeting with Mrs. Aurora Vergara Figueroa, the Minister of Education of Colombia.

On 23 May, Mr. Yankah, also accompanied by Mrs. Claudia Turbay and SSCC Chairman, Dr Sebek, will take part in  a panel discussion on the links between Africa  and Colombia in Popayan, at the invitation of Mr. Alias Larrahondo Carabali, the Governor of the province of Cauca and Mr. , Mayor of Popayan. Mr. Juan Carlos Lopes Castrillon.
